ABOUT

The Naquins Bed and Breakfast Thibodaux, Louisiana

Enjoy Cajun hospitality with a family of Acadian descent.

The Naquins were born and raised in Thibodaux with Cajun French as their native language. Upon attending school, they had to learn the English language. Throughout their lives they have enjoyed sharing their home and heritage with both domestic and foreign travelers. They value the opportunity to host your next visit to the beautiful bayou country. Frank and Joyce welcome you to the Cajun experience. They invite you to come and pass a good time at Naquins Bed and Breakfast.

Out of respect for our guests and staff who suffer from allergies pets are not allowed. The first floor houses two large bedrooms. One bedroom has 2 twin beds. The other has a queen sized bed. The second floor has queen-size beds in each room. Sleeping peacefully in any of the four available rooms will prepare you for the large breakfast in the morning.

Breakfast specialities include: orange juice, waffles, pancakes, various jams, eggs and biscuits. Joyce makes sure you eat to your hearts content. The two upstairs rooms are completely isolated from the rest of the house. The entire second floor can be reserved for guests. You will find here a treat for your tired tastebuds and stomach from all the hamburgers, fries and cokes! This cuisine is a spicy and surprising combination of Creole, Cajun, African and Indian cuisine which makes up Acadian cuisine. Shrimp, crawfish, crab and oysters are generally fried or in étouffée. Here are a few recommended dishes: - Gumbo: A southern Louisiana dish. A soup marinated in a roux with rice, onions, chicken, sausage, shrimp, cooked oysters, and even alligator. - Dirty rice: rice sautéed and mixed with green peppers, onion and celery. - Couche-couche: a delicious cake of corn semolina, eggs, salt, yeast, all mixed in hot milk and cooked in a frying pan. - Alligator boudin: sausage stuffed with pork and alligator with other local ingredients and spices.
