Balsam Mountain Inn Balsam North Carolina

Balsam Mountain historic inn welcomes guests with fifty cheerful rooms, rocker-filled porches, a warm library and gracious dining. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared with fresh, local ingredients.

We serve breakfast and dinner by reservation each day all year, and a sumptuous Sunday lunch. At a glance: Full service dining Main dining room seats 100 Dining porch seats 64 Small dining/meeting rooms Outdoor “Café” dining.

Host is songwriters-in-the-round performances and other gala events. The adjoining dining porch is a warm, sun-filled and less formal spot. Smaller private dining spaces are ideal for meetings and private meals, and café and lawn seating are available outdoors (usually by prior arrangement). On Saturday they’d sit in a small circle in the dining room with the audience all around, and they’d swap tales and sing songs. Grammy winners are numerous at Balsam, and Songwriters-in-the-Round performances are authentic and extraordinary.

    • We are in the village of Balsam,  one-half-mile off of theBlue Ridge Parkway at Balsam Gap, milepost 443, where the Parkway crosses the Great Smoky Mountain Expressway.
    • Balsam is halfway between Waynesville and Sylva – about ten minutes from each – and 20 minutes from Cullowhee and Western Carolina University.
    • We are 25 minutes south of the Cherokee entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and 25 minutes from the Cataloochee entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
