Hugging Bear Inn and Shoppe
A famous beautiful bed and breakfast inn and especially for the 10,000 bears that inhabit the Hugging Bear Teddy Bear Shoppe.
Vist us in person or order by phone. We ship and are happy to help you find your perfect bear. Many Steiff, Muffy Vanderbear, and Folkmanus Puppets are available.
Affordable cozy and romantic guest rooms, full private bath with shower and air-conditioning for hot weather days. A round room in the tower of this Victorian home overlooks the village green.
Guest Amenities include Wireless Internet Access Full country breakfast made to order: eggs any style, French toast, pancakes (plain, blueberry, apple), pure Vermont maple syrup, juices and hot beverages, cereal and fruit. Special food needs can usually be accommodated with a two-day notice. Coffee, tea and juices available during day and evening.
The Hugging Bear Inn & Shoppe, which began in 1982, resides in an elegant 150-year-old Victorian residence, circa 1850. Chester, Vermont, incorporated in 1764, is now home to two National Historic Districts; the Stone Village and the Village Green, of which the Inn is a significant part. Also nearby is the old town cemetery that dates back to the Revolutionary War.
The Inn and Shoppe are easy to find in the center of Chester (Rte. 11) on the Village Green. Chester is just 8 miles SW of Springfield, VT, and 12 miles NW of Bellows Falls, VT, both on U.S. 91.
From the WEST and SOUTH: NY State Thruway to Albany (Exit 23), Rte. 787 North, NY 7 East through Troy to Bennington, VT, U.S. 7 North (22 miles), Exit 4 in Manchester, then Rte. 11 East (28 miles) to Chester. The Inn is on the left.
From the SOUTH and EAST: U.S. 91 to Vermont Exit 6, Rockingham, then Rte. 103, 10 miles west to Chester. Do NOT turn right when 103 turns in Chester, continue straight on Main Street. The Inn is on the right, across the street from the village green.
Looking to fly into Vermont? There are two regional airports near the Inn. Rutland State is 25.5 miles (41.2km) away, and Lebanon Municipal is 29.1 miles (46.9km) away.
