At General Boyds Bed and Breakfast, the ambience of the house is casual country elegance. Rolling hills surround this lovely historic home and the classic timber-pegged barns. The five acres are shrouded with greenery dominated by native white oaks. A collection of at least 20 tree varieties have been planted by a succession of the Generals descendants. Perennial gardens along with a field of wild flowers abound for your enjoyment. Geneva Lakes shore path is a short walk away and downtown Lake Genevas cultural offerings and eateries are just a 5 minute drive. Just a 5 minute walk from the lakeshore path and Big Foot Beach State Park. The Generals Room is spacious, elegant and features a King size bed, a chaise lounge in your own sitting area, lovely views plus a private bath. The Sunshine Room is brightened by a Southeastern exposure. It includes a private bath and Queen size bed. The Gardenview Room is serene and spacious with your own sitting area, Queen size bed and private bathroom. The Rose Room has roses on dark blue wallpaper, and white "Eastlake" furniture. A Queen size bed completes this charming, cozy room. A private bathroom is adjacent.
From CHICAGO - O'Hare Airport, West and Northwest Suburbs
Follow signs to I-90 (Northwest Tollway) toward Rockford. The second exit after the Elgin toll booth is IL Hwy 47. Take this north through Huntley, Woodstock and Hebron to the Illinois/Wisconsin state line. II Hwy 47 becomes WI Hwy 120. At the first stop sign, do not turn right onto Hwy 120. Continue straight ahead for axproximately 1 mile and turn left at the second stop sign. General Boyd's entrance is on your left (85 feet). Immediately turn left (West) again into the General Boyd's B&B driveway. You should be able to see a flag and a sign mounted on two white pillars on your left before you make the turn.
From CHICAGO - North Lakeshore Suburbs
Take I-94 (Tri-State Tollway) toward Milwaukee. Cross the border into Wisconsin and get off at exit 344 - Hwy 50. Drive west (left off the exit) on Hwy 50 for about 24 miles to Lake Geneva. Turn left and drive south on Hwy #120. It becomes Edwards Blvd. (watch for the "Car Wash" on the right). Immediately after the "Car Wash" turn right onto Bloomfield Rd. Go to the second stop sign, which is S. Lakeshore Drive. Turn left going past the lake for 1/2 mile, slowing as you bare right at the center divider. Be prepared turn left at the end of the divider, entering the General Boyds B&B driveway. You should be able to see a flag and a sign mounted on two white pillars on your left before you make the turn.
From MILWAUKEE - Mitchell Field
Take I-94 North (in left lane) and merge left onto I-43 South and I-894. Stay in the left lane following I-43 South to the second East Troy exit (#36). Turn south on WI Hwy 120 to the junction and merger with Hwy 12 (about 1 mile). Turn left and drive south on Hwy 120. It becomes Edwards Blvd. (watch for the "Car Wash" on the right). Immediately after the "Car Wash" turn right onto Bloomfield Rd. Go to the second stop sign, which is S. Lakeshore Drive. From MADISON
Take I-90 toward Chicago. At Janesville, exit east on Highway 11. Follow this road through Delavan and turn right at first stoplight, Highway 50 East to Lake Geneva. Once in Lake Geneva, turn right, or south, on Broad St. Continue to drive south on Broad St. through town. Broad St. will change to S. Lake Shore Dr. and turn left away from the lake. In a little bit S. Lake Shore Dr. will once again meet up with the lake shore. Drive straight past the Big Foot Beach State Park entrance on your left and The Geneva Inn on your right. Continue on straight on S. Lake Shore Dr. for a bit until you see a sign for a left hand turn lane to Hwy. 120. DO NOT enter the left turn lane. Drive slowly and turn left into the General Boyd's B&B driveway IMMEDIATELY after where the left turn lane ends.
From ROCKFORD
Follow Illinois Highway 173 East to the town of Hebron. Turn left, or north, on Illinois Highway 47. At the Illinois/Wisconsin state line, Illinois 47 becomes Wisconsin Highway 120. In approximately 3 miles, turn left at the stop sign where Highway 120 turns east, and then immediately turn left (south) again into the General Boyd's B&B driveway. If you see a sign for West South Lake Shore Drive you have missed the driveway entrance.
